Sarah Moon

Born in 1941 · France

Images between apparition, memory and fable.

The story

After a career as a model, Sarah Moon turned to photography in the late 1960s. Her fashion campaigns, notably for Cacharel, developed a distinctive world of blur, reflections and atmosphere. She also pursues personal work and filmmaking. The images do more than describe a garment or subject: they convey the fragility of an apparition and the passing of time.

Understanding the work

Observe what blur, shadow or transparency can suggest. Photography can preserve a presence while leaving ample room for imagination.
