The story
Peter Henry Emerson photographed marshes and rural activities in East Anglia. His book Life and Landscape on the Norfolk Broads, made with T. F. Goodall, brings together landscapes, working gestures and atmospheric conditions. An advocate of a naturalistic approach, he also participated in theoretical debates about photography. His images connect people with an environment without isolating their activities from light and water.
