Paolo Roversi
Born in 1947 · Italy / France
The studio, slowness and the presence of a face.
The story
Based in Paris since 1973, Paolo Roversi works with magazines and fashion designers while developing a personal visual language. Large-format cameras, Polaroid and experiments with light contribute to images whose tones are sometimes soft, sometimes very dense. The studio is a space of experimentation. Clothing accompanies the model’s presence rather than being the photograph’s sole subject.
Understanding the work
Observe changes in focus, colours and the passage from shadow to light. The face and silhouette often emerge from a very simple background.
