Gauri Gill
Born in 1970 · India
Making images through a long-term relationship.
The story
Gauri Gill has worked with communities in Rajasthan since the late 1990s. Notes from the Desert forms a large body of portraits and scenes of everyday life. Other projects involve explicit collaborations: Fields of Sight with Rajesh Vangad combines photography with Warli drawing; Acts of Appearance features masks made with local artists. The relationship becomes a visible part of the work.
