Bieke Depoorter
Born in 1986 · Belgium
Turning an encounter into a photographic relationship.
The story
Bieke Depoorter builds her projects around encounters and the relationships that develop with the people she photographs. In Ou Menya and then I Am About to Call It a Day, she enters domestic spaces. Other projects make dialogue, doubt and collaboration more visible. Her books allow us to follow how the photographer’s position evolves as the work progresses.
Understanding the work
